Steven M. Steele, CLU
Senior Account Manager

For nearly five decades, my career in the insurance industry has been defined by a commitment to caring, competence, and character inspired by Michael A. Sauthier, CLU. My professional journey began uniquely: I attended UCLA while still in high school and eventually graduated with a degree in biology. After spending a year as a research assistant for a best-selling financial author and money manager, I decided to work with business owners and professionals to buy health and life insurance. I began working 45 years ago in Encino alongside Michael Sauthier, a consummate professional, mentor, and friend.   In gratitude, his passing inspired me to create a mentoring scholarship in his name through Pearls of Hope.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to achieve several career milestones. I had the honor of serving on Blue Cross’s (now Anthem) inaugural Advisory Council for more than a decade. In 1986, I earned my Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the American College and have been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) for 41 years.

To continue Mike’s shared legacy, I am thrilled to be part of The Benefit Center. Joining the Fitzpatricks’ excellent high-touch, high-tech practice has been an exciting new chapter.  In their agency, for the last two years, I have been voted Most Likely to Be Most Improved.

I consider myself exceptionally blessed to have spent my career advising compassionate professionals and business owners; their stories and how they generously share their time, treasure, and talent continue to teach and inspire me every day.  Thank you!

Beyond the office, my greatest inspiration is my wife of over 31 years, Lourdes. Having arrived from Cuba more than 60 years ago, knowing only the word "asylum," she is my daily reminder of the enduring promise of the American Dream. In my free time, I stay active in my community by driving for Meals on Wheels on Tuesdays and serving as an assistant youth baseball coach. I am also a member of American Mensa, and I thoroughly enjoy trying to play tennis and attempting to fish.
